Meet MAGRR's newest mommy. Ginny and her 12 puppies are doing great at their foster home. Thanks Lynn and Martin for providing a safe and happy home for this little family.
This blog is used to share information, pictures, and video about the golden retrievers that we foster for the Memphis Area Golden Retriever Rescue. Fosters leave pawprints on your heart!

Keltie comes to visit.
We are fostering Keltie while her foster family is out of town. Keltie is a very sweet little girl. She is so precious. She likes to play with our baby girl, Karma. Keltie is the smaller girl and Karma has a missing left foot.

Karma plays with Red
Karma does not let anything get in her way. She manages to get around pretty well with only three legs. It was a little chilly in Memphis this morning, and she tried to drink frozen water. Needless to say, they did not stay out very long.
Red
Red stayed with us over the weekend while his foster family were out of town. He is such a sweet boy. He loved to play with Karma, Cedar, and Robbie. He will make a great addition to any family that wants the love of a golden.

Karma gets Adopted!
When we first met this sweet girl, we knew she would fill a void in our family. On November 1, 2008, we lost our 14 year old golden, Ginger. On the same day, we picked up a sweet little golden stray. She was truly a special girl. Charmie would become our Karma. Charmie came to MAGRR from a shelter and she truly needed some special care. Even though she does not have a left front paw, she does not let this slow her down. It does however, cause your heart to skip a beat or two. When we first met Karma, she helped us see that things do happen for a reason. As one door closed, another opened. We have found our 2nd sweet baby girl. Karma has 3 golden brothers that look out for her:
Cody (adopted 1999)
Cedar (adopted 2005)
Robbie (adopted 2006)

Karma (foster #62)
Karma is a keeper! She has been with us for 3 weeks. She has settled in with our golden group. Karma is a sweet baby girl and she loves to be around people. She is missing her left front paw, so it she does tire out quickly. She has learned to use the doggy door and she knows sit. She does not let her handicap get in her way.

Lucy will be missed!
A "golden" mess!
Lucy will be traveling to her new home in a few days. She has really had a lot of fun playing with her foster brothers. We will miss this sweet little "Baby Girl". I know that she will enjoy playing with her new brother, Harlee. The hardest part of fostering these golden babies, is having to let them go.

Layla gets adopted! She is now Lucy.
Lucy will be traveling to her new home on October 23. She has really enjoyed living with her foster siblings.

Leila (Foster #61)
Leila was rescued from a shelter. She is about a year old and very energetic. She is a sweet girl and we are working on simple commands. She does know how to use the doggy door and she is house trained. It took her a few days to learn how to play with Cedar and Robbie. This afternoon she played ball. She will get the ball and then drop it so that Cedar could retrieve it. More to come as we get to know this little girl.

Video: Winston loves to play with Cedar & Robbie!
Winston (Golden with white face), Cedar (Golden mix) and Robbie (Golden) love to play ball.
Winston (Foster #60)
Don't let the beautiful white face fool you. Winston is a very youthful 8 year old golden. He loves to run around the yard and play ball. He loves to be around people. He is completely house trained and he has learned to use the doggy door. He will make a wonderful addition for a family with the love for pure gold. Winston gets along very well with our goldens. Winston is crate trained if needed, but we don't usually put him in the crate. He is content just hanging out with our goldens, Cedar and Robbie. He is a very handsome boy.

Flora
While I was out of town, Flora stayed with another foster family. She is doing great with the new family. She was a little busy the first few days but she has settled in nicely. Flora will make a great addition to a loving family. She is completely potty trained and she walks very well on a leash.

Flora (foster #59)
I picked up Flora yesterday. She is 2 years old and she is a delightful little thing. She weighs 54 pounds and she is a beautiful golden girl. She was a little nervous and busy for much of the afternoon. She met our goldens very nicely. She likes to play ball, but she does not always bring the ball back. We are working on that. She does know sit and responds to "no". We are working on her indoor manners.

We miss you Chelsea!
Well, the day finally arrived when we had to say goodbye to our sweet foster Chelsea. We have really gotten attached to this girl over the past 5 weeks. We have given her several nicknames (Baby Girl, Little Bit and Bits). She is truley one of my favorites. It was a little tough putting her on the transport, but we know in just a few days she will be with her new family. We will miss her.

More pictures of Chelsea
Chelsea (Day Two)
Chelsea is getting a little more active. She was spayed on Thursday, so she is feeling much better. I took a short video this morning. She is a little protected of her "things". She growled at Ginger (our 14 year old golden) because Ginger got a little too close to her treat. We corrected her and she wagged her tail. She seems to be housebroken. No accidents! We have not crated her and she has not bothered anything.

Chelsea (foster #58)
Chelsea came to MAGRR as a stray. She is a very sweet golden girl. She is very thin and a little timid. Chelsea slept through the night without any accidents. She gets along fine with our other goldens. More to come as we get to know Chelsea and her personality shines through.

Fun at Shelby Farms
Keira, Cedar, and Robbie had a fun time swimming at Shelby Farms park. Keira loved to swim and she did great on the leash. As you can see from the pictures, they all enjoyed the cool water. It was almost 80 degrees and it was only 10:00 central time.

Cedar
Cedar spent two days at the Collierville Pet Hospital in intensive care. Thanks to Dr. Mangum and the CPH staff, he was back home last night. He swallowed a piece of bone on Monday and really gave us a scare. We are so glad to have our sweet boy healthy and happy again. Since he was feeling a little under the weather, he had to rest in the bed when he got home.
No More Bones at our House!!
Keira
