Bosco (foster #81)

Meet our new foster, Bosco. He is a beautiful 5-year old boy. He is very laid back. He loves to be around people. He is just beginning to play with Missy and Karma. He does know basic commands and he learned to use the doggy door after about 10 minutes. He likes to go out and walk around the back yard and then come back in to cool off. He met my nephew Matthew on Saturday. More to come as we get to know this sweet golden.

Missy gets adopted!

Missy will be traveling to her new home tomorrow. If you have been to this blog before, you know that we have been fostering a yellow lab. It's a long story, but MAGRR was kind enough to put this girl through the adoption process even though she is not a golden. Sometimes you just have to bend the rules a little bit. She has been great. We have fostered her since March and we will truly miss her. But as one leaves, another one takes their place. Check back in a few days and meet our new foster. We are planning to pick up Bosco either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Missy. We were delivering Kuranda beds to a shelter when we saw this sweet face. If it wasn't for our Kuranda bed project at my high school, we would have never rescued her. Things do happen for a reason. Love you Missy!

More Kuranda beds delivered to the West Memphis Animal Shelter.

If you have read my profile, you know that I am a high school teacher. We raised money to buy Kuranda beds for our local shelter. We finally finished putting together the additional Kuranda beds for the shelter yesterday. Sherry, Matthew and I delivered the beds along with a cat tower, 10 box fans for the outdoor kennels and 5 wading pools. This is the shelter where Missy and Jersey were rescued. As you can see from the pictures, there are lots of dogs enjoying their new beds. A big "Thank You" to everyone who helped us raise the money.

MAGRR needs foster homes!

Hi everybody, this is Karma. I was adopted by my foster family over a year ago. You see, I was a stray that found myself locked up in a kennel at the Memphis Animal Shelter. The nice people from MAGRR came to my rescue and somehow I found my foster family. I was so afraid that my handicap would prevent anyone from wanting me. I get around just fine with 3 feet, but sometimes people aren't willing to take a chance on a dog that is different. Anyway, they were at the vet's office with their sweet senior golden named Ginger. Ginger was not doing well and they knew that the time had come to let her go. They found it in their hearts to take a MAGRR foster home with them and it was me. I would hear them talk about adopting me because it was karma working. They lost their Ginger and they rescued me. So, I became Karma and I was adopted. I can't tell you how many times that they say I act just like Ginger. She was the queen of the household and now I am the princess. I have gotten to foster lots of goldens since I came here, and it is a blast. I love meeting all the new dogs and finding new friends. They don't even seem to care if I have a handicap. So, if you are visiting my blog, and you live in the Memphis area, why don't you think about becoming a foster for MAGRR. It is a very fun and rewarding experience. You get to meet and love lots of goldens and then see them find their forever homes. My foster mom gets to meet lots of new people too. Visit our web site at http://www.magrr.org/ to find out more information. Thanks for listening, Karma

If you are checking out my golden foster blog, you might notice that I have not posted anything since Buddy left last week. We are fostering Missy, the yellow lab. Since I had already started Missy her own blog, just click on the link at the top to get up to date information about her.
